I was born in Connecticut and lived in Boston and New York before eventually settling here in Southern California. I am a professional composer and I have a doctorate in music. I enjoy classical music, reading, and home improvement. I speak Chinese fairly okay. 

Desiree Avila, Technical Systems Analyst

I am a First-Generation student from Pomona, CA and a native Spanish speaker. I attended Chapman University, MA School Counseling. I am a mental and physical wellness enthusiast with a passion for exploring outside of my comfort zone, traveling, visiting museums, coffee shops and attending music festivals. I enjoy books and podcasts about personal growth, relationship building and holistic wellness.

Sarah Jaques-Ross, Associate Registrar of Academic Services and Curriculum

I have been a student or staff at The Claremont Colleges since 2006 and was thrilled to join the Pitzer community in 2023. I enjoy skiing, camping, and hiking with my family, and reading is my favorite pastime. One of my long-term goals is to run a marathon (or at least make it to the finish without collapsing!).

 I attended Cal Poly, Pomona where I graduated with an MA in English. I value community and sustainability. I am an avid crafter, reader, and thrifter. I bring my dog Ace into the office almost every day. My lifelong goal is to always lead with gratitude and kindness.
